Tablecloth Size Chart

The right tablecloth size depends on your table shape, table dimensions, and the desired overhang (drop). A standard casual overhang is 6 to 12 inches, while formal settings call for 15 inches or a floor-length drop. Use the charts below to find the tablecloth that fits your table.

How to Measure for a Tablecloth

To find the right tablecloth size, measure your table and add twice the desired drop (overhang) to each dimension. For a rectangular table, measure the length and width. For a round table, measure the diameter.

Formula

Rectangular: Tablecloth width = table width + (2 x desired drop). Tablecloth length = table length + (2 x desired drop).

Round: Tablecloth diameter = table diameter + (2 x desired drop).

Standard Overhang Lengths

Casual dining: 6 to 8 inches. Everyday use: 8 to 12 inches. Formal dining: 15 inches. Floor-length (banquets): 30 inches or to the floor. The most common and versatile overhang is 12 inches, which works for both casual and semi-formal settings.
